The MacWhites Had The Coolest Wedding in Brooklyn.. Ever!!!
The MacWhites Defy Wedding Traditions.
While the team here at Björn & Company love every kind of wedding, there is something just so thrilling about going the unconventional route—and bride Shannon was definitely ready to defy tradition for her wedding! If we had to use one word to describe the day (and bride herself), it would be “cool”…and effortlessly so. Shannon & fiancé Seth knew right off the bat that they wanted the focus of their special day to be the celebration of their shared sense of fun and eclectic taste, and we were more than happy to help them realize that vision.
Other highlights? Special details that truly made this standout wedding memorable: a canine companion in the wedding party, a remarkable and super-fun confetti cake, and Jenga blocks in lieu of a guest book (guests wrote their special messages on the wooden blocks and added them to a fishbowl).
The first step? Finding a truly unique venue. The couple’s location of choice was Greenwood Park, their favorite Brooklyn hangout. The funky, spacious, and relaxed Park Slope beer garden provided the perfect festive-casual backdrop for these offbeat nuptials. To add a touch of creative whimsy to the venue’s more industrial style, a member of the Greenwood Park team designed custom signage for each and every chalkboard…they were perfection—and totally Instagram-worthy!
Forgoing traditional florals, Shannon opted for a more wild, garden-style floral palette. Floral designer extraordinaire Suzanna at Stems translated Shannon’s vision into lush arrangements with lots of texture and a striking mix of seasonal blooms. And because the couple was not one to shy away from color, traditional creams, blushes, and greens were offset by unexpected yellows, oranges, and even purples. Arrangements of different sizes were created in a variety of different vessels (from clear glass cylinders to mason jars), producing a striking mismatched with- a-purpose style. Instead of a standard arch or arrangements, Suzanna and the Stems team completed the look by creating a beautiful asymmetrical garland of greenery and garden roses to hang above the bride & groom’s initials. It was lovely and funky, and absolutely right for the wedding.
Shannon and Seth’s energy was absolutely infectious, and guests laughed and danced the night away while celebrating this truly lovely couple (and Shannon’s tea-length dress allowed her to really get her groove on).
And to end the night on a delightfully sweet note, guests were treated to a wonderful surprise: Mr. Softee! Frozen treats from the favorite nostalgic ice cream truck were an undeniable hit.

Imaginative touches and rejecting convention made Shannon and Seth’s affair one we knew we wouldn’t soon forget…and over one year later, we’re still reminiscing about that magical evening. Exceptionally cool without falling prey to being “trendy”, this wedding was one for the books. It was such an honor to be a part of Shannon and Seth’s special day, and we wish them all the love and blessings!
